Top Tip - PSA

Covers - Peugeot 308 T9 & Citroen C4 Picasso II (2013-2019) 110KW Diesel Engine

 

Issue

Battery charging fault is displayed on touch-screen, as well as illumination of the Stop Lamp and Battery Warning Lamp on the IPC, due to abnormal wear of the alternator belt upper tensioner pulley and/or broken alternator belt.
 

Symptoms

1. Lighting Of The Stop Lamp
2. Lighting Of The Battery Warning Lamp
3. Message On Touch Screen For Battery Charging Fault

 

 

 

Cause

  1. Abnormal wear of the alternator belt upper tensioner pulley.
  2. Alternator belt broken.

Action

1. Raise vehicle and remove O/S/F Wheel

 

 

2. Remove O/S/F Wheel Arch Liner / Mudguard

 

3. If fitted, remove the front Ride Height Sensor protection cover (Held in place with 2 x 10mm Bolts)

4. Remove Crank Pulley / Air Conditioning Compressor Protection Cover (Held In Place With 2 x 10mm Bolts and 1 x 10mm Nut)

5. Remove broken Alternator Belt

6. Using the correct tooling, de-tension the Upper Tensioner Pulley and lock it in the de-tensioned Position

As Pictured Below Movement At "A" Is Clockwise Until Point "B" Goes Past Point "C" Hold In Place Using A Metal Pegging Tool

7. Remove and replace the Alternator Belt Upper Tensioner Pulley (Held In Place With 3 x 10mm Bolts Using Manufactures Specified Torque Settings).

8. Using the correct tooling, de-tension the Lower Tensioner Pulley and lock it in to the de-tensioned position.

As Pictured below, Movement at "A" Is clockwise until point "B" goes past point "C" hold in place using a metal pegging tool locking Lower Pulley

9. Remove and replace the Alternator Belt Lower Tensioner Pulley (Held in place with 3 x 10mm bolts using manufactures specified torque settings)

10. Replace the Alternator Belt

11. Refit Crank Pulley / Air Conditioning Compressor Protection Cover (Held in place With 2 x 10mm Bolts and 1 x 10mm Nut using manufactures specified torque settings).

12. Refit if fitted the Front Ride Height Sensor Protection Cover (Held In Place With 2 x 10mm bolts using manufactures specified Torque Settings).

13. Refit O/S/F Wheel Arch Liner / Mudguard (Using manufactures specified torque settings).

14. Refit O/S/F Wheel and Lower the vehicle and clear fault codes and test the vehicle (Using manufactures specified torque settings)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tools Required: Tensioner Tool Kit (01099 With 01099-A And 01099-B)

 

Parts Required: Genuine Repair Kit at (a reduced cost) Part Number 16-168-769-80
